Training a Puppy

Bringing your new puppy home for the very first time can be full of mixed emotions. You are excited because you have a new member of the family, but then you realize that you need to train your puppy and you start to feel a bit overwhelmed.
The first week is the most important. It is here that you will lay the foundation for all your puppy’s training efforts. Training a puppy correctly from the start will make things much easier on your entire family.
Make sure you have all the supplies you need, which will be a crate, bowls for food and water, a leash and collar and some toys for your puppy to play with.
Don’t let the excitement and emotions of having a brand new puppy make you forget your routine or break the rules that you have set out for your puppy to follow. For example, don’t let your puppy jump around everyone because she is excited, she needs to know from the beginning that this type of behavior is not allowed.
If you forget the rules and let the puppy run wild the excitement wears off very quickly and suddenly you find yourself with stains all over your nice carpet. This is certainly not your puppy’s fault, she is just a baby who was taken from her mother and placed in a strange environment.
Remember that your puppy will need a lot of sleep, just like a human baby. So make sure to give her a nice quiet space to call her own.
